Al Gore

Used his sister's death from cancer as a wedge to attack big tobacco. Later, it is revealed that the Gore family farm grew tobacco at one time.

1973 Ten minutes after the above sale of land, Al Gore Sr. sells the zinc mine to his son, Al Gore, Jr., $140,000.

7 Nov 1997 Tells newspaper Bergen County Record that he smoked pot in college, and in the Army, but not for the past 15 years.
6 Dec 1998 Al Gore Sr. dies.

3 Nov 2000 John Warnecke, on he and Al Gore Jr: "We smoked hashish together and we smoked a type of marijuana called Thai sticks. That's a special high-grade marijuana that comes wrapped in a special stick from Thailand. And what they do is, after they wrap it around a stick they dip it in opium. So it's an opium-laced marijuana... I know I smoked with him one time while he was actually campaigning [in 1976].
7 Nov 2000 Al Gore and Joseph Lieberman win the popular vote, but lose the presidency to George W Bush. One Florida district reported a negative 16,000 votes for Gore.
